TCMP partners with Coventry City Council to support women's heart health through menopause

We’re delighted to share an exciting new partnership between The Coventry Menopause Project CIC and Coventry City Council’s Public Health team.
Through the Healthy Communities Grant Programme, TCMP will be delivering a new community-based health and wellbeing project supporting women to better understand the relationship between menopause, changing hormone levels and longer-term cardiovascular health.
The project brings together menopause education, practical wellbeing support, health information and community connection to help women feel more informed, confident and empowered to take an active role in their own health.
Why this project matters
Menopause is about much more than hot flushes and periods.
Changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect many areas of a woman's health and wellbeing, and understanding cardiovascular health is an important part of the wider conversation.
Through this project, TCMP will create a supportive environment where women can learn more about their health, ask questions, develop practical tools and become more confident in managing their own wellbeing and navigating healthcare.
The project has been designed as a six-week, in-person health and wellbeing programme, with two programmes planned as part of the grant-funded activity.
What will the programme involve?
The six-week programme brings together education, practical activities, wellbeing support and
opportunities for women to connect with one another.
Sessions will cover areas including:
Understanding heart health during perimenopause and menopause
Helping women understand the relationship between menopause, changing hormone levels and cardiovascular health.
Managing stress and wellbeing
Practical activities including HeartMath sessions, breathwork and techniques focused on emotional wellbeing.
Nutrition for healthy hearts
An interactive session exploring nutrition and practical healthy choices.
Building confidence and navigating healthcare
Helping women feel more informed and confident when accessing healthcare services and having conversations with healthcare professionals.
Personalised wellbeing planning
Participants will have the opportunity to develop their own wellbeing goals and plans for continuing their journey beyond the programme.
The programme will also include contributions from health and wellbeing professionals, including a BMS-registered GP with a special interest in cardiovascular health.
Working together
One of the things we're particularly pleased about is the opportunity to work alongside Coventry's wider health and care system.
The Healthy Communities programme is designed to encourage community organisations and health professionals to work together, helping local projects connect residents with appropriate information, support and services.
For TCMP, this partnership is about bringing together community experience, menopause education and health expertise to create something practical and accessible for women.
What do we hope women will take away?
By the end of the programme, participants are expected to have:
A better understanding of menopause and its effects on heart health
Practical tools and techniques to support wellbeing and manage stress
Greater confidence in self-managing their health and wellbeing
Increased confidence when accessing healthcare and talking with healthcare professionals
Their own personalised health and wellbeing plan
Greater social connection and a reduced sense of isolation
Encouragement to continue their wellbeing journey through ongoing activities and peer support.
More than six weeks
For us, this isn't just about delivering six weeks of sessions.
It's about creating connections that can continue afterwards.
Participants will be encouraged to engage with ongoing activities and peer support opportunities through TCMP, helping them continue their wellbeing journey beyond the funded programme.
The wider Healthy Communities programme also places importance on developing partnerships and approaches that can continue beyond the funding period.
A big milestone for TCMP
This project represents an exciting step forward for The Coventry Menopause Project.
We're incredibly proud to be working with Coventry City Council's Public Health team on a project that puts women's health, education, confidence and community connection at its heart.
We're looking forward to sharing more as the programme develops, including the experiences and learning from the women taking part.
This is just the beginning.
